Cactus silk, also known as “Sabra”, comes from the natural fibers of cacti. Grown in the Sahara desert, the vegetable-based material is hand-woven in Morocco. The leaves are crushed and soaked until the fibers separate. The fibers are then hand-spun to create a silky but very strong yarn. The yarn is woven on looms to create the cactus silk. The colors that bring each rug to life are created with 100% vegetable dyes.
SAUDAA Cactus Silk Rug
$400
Size : 130×230 cm
Type : Cactus silk
Cactus silk rugs, also known as Sabra silk, are possibly one of our favorite Moroccan textiles because of their incredible softness. Another great advantage of cactus silk is that it is vegan, made from the fiber of the Saharan aloe vera, a member of the agave family. This beautiful rug is an excellent animal-free alternative to silk or wool, with lots of luster and durability.
They bring a dose of color to any decor and can be used on the floor as well as on the wall, and even on a sofa or bed.
The carpet is totally ecological, biodegradable and does not generate allergies of any kind. It is also characterized by being zero waste, since after use it can be used as an ecological fertilizer.
